Is it safe to eat dried bonito flak(an ingredient used to make dashi stocks and other broths) right out of bag?

As in I take the dried flakes, and eat pop them straight into my mouth? Bonito flakes are a type of Japanese dried, shredded (very finely, paper thin) tuna.Is it safe to eat dried bonito flak(an ingredient used to make dashi stocks and other broths) right out of bag?
Yes, it's fine.
It is like the Chinese and Vietnamese Pork Floss, a shredded and dried seasoned pork product, it is not unhealthy, but there is not alot to them, and they can be salty, I worked in Japan and we use huge bags for stock in the sushi/tatami restaurant, they have little nutritional values, but are not going to harm, you, like Japanese candy floss with a fishy overtone, try the dehydrated squid it has more to it.Is it safe to eat dried bonito flak(an ingredient used to make dashi stocks and other broths) right out of bag?
Yes they are often put on top of hot Japanese foods as a garnish. They move around a bit in the heat. It's fermented bonito, but it's pretty close to tuna.
its safe but not very satisfying....
