Basic Japanese ingredients to have in my house?

I'm going to go to a couple stores.. world market.. grocery store.. etc.

And I love Japanese food. It's mostly healthy and very delicious.

oh btw I'm 15, just so you know. (:

so I need to know some basic Japanese things to get.

I want to get ingredients for main dishes, soups, drinks, desserts, everything! (:

like tofu, udon noodles, dashi soup stock, those are things that would come in handy.

I already have teriyaki, soy sauce, rice.. that's about it pfft.

Also seasonings and spices to use.

Oh and you don't need to say meats or fish, because I know I need to get those.

Some kind of Ponzu

Pocky crackers(yum)

Sweet Bean paste

Corn starch for tempura

Ramen noodle fixings:

. Lo mein noodles

. Canadian bacon for the pork

. Fish paste(the pink swirl thing)

. Scallions

. White Miso paste

. Seaweed



Sushi mat

Saran wrap for making sushi like the pros

A VERY sharp knife. I use a square Usuba knife mostly

Bento boxes for bring lunch

Rice vinegar

Sesame seeds



Outside:

Hibachi grill

Marinated Chicken on bamboo skewer(Yakitori)

Japanese BBQ sauce



Pocari Sweat drink

Koala March crackers. (filled with choc)

Assorted rice crackers

Wasibi peas(get the fake kind, they taste better)

Kasugai crackers (I like the peanut kind the best)

Daifuku--melon is a good flavor

Ingredients

1 lb country-style pork sausage

1 lb ground lean pork

1 tablespoon soy sauce

2 teaspoons chili oil

1 carrot, finely shredded

4 cloves garlic, minced

6 green onions, chopped

2-3 tablespoons fresh ginger, grated

1/2 medium cabbage, shredded

1/2 cup beef broth

2 packages gyoza skins

peanut oil

Dipping Sauce

1/3 cup tahini (sesame paste)

1/3 cup rice vinegar

1/3 cup Japanese soy sauce

1/4 cup sugar or light corn syrup

1 1/2 tablespoons sesame oil

1 tablespoon fresh garlic, pressed or finely chopped

1 tablespoon chili oil

1/2 teaspoon szechwan pepper

2-3 green onions, chopped

-sushi rice

-sushi alge sheets

-soy sauce to dip the sushi in

ingredients :

-sushi rice

-sushi alge sheet

-egg omelet

-cucumber

-green onion

-teriyaki sauce

what you do:

-prepare the rice as indicated on the bag.

-once cooked,let the rice cool until it is at room temperatre.

-prepare a 2 egg omelet,and once thet are cooked,cut them in thin slices or in pieces.

-set aside for later.

-place the algae on the mat,dark side facing you.

-press some rice until you have a nice coatng on the sheet of algae.

-stop at a 1/8 inch from the opposite side.

-place some eggs on the width of the algae sheet.

-add cucumber,green onions and any other vegtables you like.

-pour some teriyaki sauce.mayonnaise or any other condiment you like

-roll the sushi using the mat.

-wet the top of the algae with some water and seal and roll.

-cut the rollin 1/2inch slicesand seve them.|||Japanese Rice

sesame oil

mirin (sweet sake)

red pepper flakes

panko (Japanese bread crumbs)

miso

gyoza skins

fish cake

wakame

scallion
