Whey Protein Vs. TVP(Textured Vegetable Protein)?

Here is the deal. I am realizing as a poor college student, I just can't afford to keep buying whey protein isolates. Is TVP a good alternative. What do you guys think about TVP?

I am 6'2 220lbs athletic dude that runs, lifts weights and boxes.|||The reason Whey protein is popular is because it is so easily and quickly absorbed. Ideally after working out you need a mix of both quickly absorbed and more slowly absorbed proteins.

TVP is absorbed much more slowly than whey protein, but unless you are a body builder it's probably not going to be much of an an issue. For the non-body builders (those who just want to be fit/toned) then just making sure you get enough protein in your diet should be enough!|||I've heard too many hit and miss stories about TVP. It will probably be cheaper and more effective for you to swap out whey protein shakes for high-protein foods. I'm taking 60g of whey per day now, but about 200g from foods like chicken, eggs, and milk.
